L’amour – it’s the season of love

Celebrate the first flush of spring with February’s Valentine’s Day.

For me it’s all about fine food and quality time with your loved one. If, like me, you have a love affair with food Valentines’ Day merits a gourmet tête-à- tête dinner, with good champagne and a romantic star-lit walk home. I’m a big softy at heart!

We romantics are spoilt for choice with beautiful Suffolk coastlines, dreamy landscapes, a wealth of independent eateries, artistic florists, skilled chocolatiers and stunning heritage architecture. What better way to start the year than by enchanting our partners with a celebration of love.

As a French chef, aphrodisiacs, the food of love, naturally take center stage for Valentines’ day. From Oysters to chocolate, aphrodisiacs have arousing aromas or a sensual texture; believed to enhance attractiveness, entice passion and fervor. They blend the simple pleasures of taste, texture and aroma that create a memorable meal.

Many of my dishes include aphrodisiacs, I love enhancing different textures, balancing subtle flavours and adding a tickle of heat. It’s the mastering of bringing these things together that make an exquisite dish to be enjoyed and possibly trigger a little romance!


Here at Maison Bleue we are well known for exceptional dishes including the beloved poached Colchester Oysters served with Perigord black truffle and Jerusalem artichoke and mouth-watering seared, hand dived, Isle of Orkney King scallops with potato mousseline, Granny Smith apple and Iberico ham.
We delight in creating a deliciously tantalizing Valentines dinner for lovers with dishes that will get your taste buds dancing and help you get in the mood! Indulge with a glass of Champagne or our special Valentine’s cocktail while you peruse our locally sourced meat and fish dishes. Then linger over our decadent Grand cru chocolate and Coffee sharing dessert followed by our award winning cheese selection.

There have been many wedding proposals made over dinner – often with the whole restaurant applauding!
